Launched in June 2008, Mafia Wars is a multiplayer browser
based game. It was created by Zynga and is available on
Facebook, Myspace, Tagged, Yahoo, and the Iphone.
The focus of the game revolves around performing jobs to
earn money, and in turn create and progress your illicit mafia
empire. By recruiting other players, players can grow their
mafias. Because most people play on social networking sites
they generally recruit from within their friends list, building
up bigger and bigger mafias who then fight against other mafias
created by other players in the game.

Right, back to my summary of what Mafia Wars is all
about...
Playing the game centres around timers, so players have
restricted meters for stamina, health and energy. The meters
can be improved over time. As discussed previously, players
recruit others to their mafias who then fight other mafias,
which normally ends up allowing you to steal cash from the
other mafias (or vice versa!). Players can improve their stats
by visiting the godfather and spending Godfather points
(sometimes called Reward points) earned. The game works on a
level basis so players move up to higher levels as they play.
By completing jobs players can earn experience points and as
they move up to higher levels more jobs become accessible as
well as additional features.
There are 3 main player types in the game:
Mogul, Fearless and Manic. Each has its own advantages. The
Moguls advantage is based on money – they gain money every 54
minutes instead of the normal 60 minutes. Fearless have the
advantage of generating health more often – one health point
every 3 minutes instead of the usual 5. Maniacs have an energy
advantage in that they receive energy every 3 minutes instead
of 5. In my opinion it is best to go for the Maniac character
as energy is essential to complete jobs, and completing jobs
essential for gaining experience points and for levelling
up.
It’s so easy to become addicted to this game,
created by a desire to beat weaker players to help you level
up, gain more experience points, or just to rob them for their
